Our School
John and Barbara Roderick Elementary School is located in the Magnolia neighborhood of Josephine, Texas. The Rodericks served Brave Nation for a combined 41 years.
John Roderick began educating students in Community ISD in 1979, teaching agriculture science and leading the FFA program until 1991. He was elevated to Community High School principal, then became an assistant superintendent of CISD, and finished his Brave Nation career as superintendent.
Barbara Roderick began her education career in Cooper ISD in 1971, and in 1976 went to Bridgeport ISD. She first worked in CISD from 1979-1984 as a teacher and later a counselor. Mrs. Roderick worked at Princeton ISD from 1985-2000 as an assistant principal and principal, and then returned to Community ISD in 2001, teaching kindergarten until her retirement in 2009. All told, Mrs. Roderick served 14 years in Community ISD, and 36 in education overall.
In June 2022, the Community ISD communications staff visited with Mr. and Mrs. Roderick. We discussed their early days working in Community ISD, the impact they made, and their excitement ahead of the grand opening celebration, which took place on July 2, 2022. You can watch that video below.
